Tesla Model 3 wait times delayed in China.

Tesla China has updated its order page for the Model 3, resulting in a delay in delivery estimates for the all-electric sedan. The revised delivery estimates apply to both the vehicle’s Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and Long Range Dual Motor All Wheel Drive (AWD) version. Previously, both models had an estimated delivery timeframe of 2-6 weeks.

Interestingly, this update only affects the Model 3, not the Model Y RWD, Model Y Long Range Dual Motor AWD, and Model Y Performance. The new delivery estimates for the Giga Shanghai-made Model 3 are now at 3-6 weeks. Tesla China emphasized the affordability of the Giga Shanghai-made Model 3 and Model Y in its promotional materials.

They highlighted that it’s possible to drive away a new Tesla with RMB 80,000 without any interest, with the best-selling Model 3 and Y having a daily payment of only RMB 154 at most, equivalent to the price of a hot pot meal. Tesla China wrote, “Change the car into a Tesla. The gas money can be spent on the monthly payment.”

In China, the Tesla Model 3 RWD starts at RMB 245,900 ($34,000), while the Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor AWD starts at RMB 285,900 ($39,400). Overall, this update showcases Tesla’s efforts to make its electric vehicles more accessible to consumers in China.
