Redwood Materials teams up with General Motors

Redwood Materials has announced a partnership with General Motors to recycle production scraps from the automaker’s Ohio and Tennessee plants. The collaboration aims to establish America’s battery supply chain and contribute to sustainable manufacturing practices. Additionally, at the beginning of the year, Redwood Materials revealed plans to construct a cathode plant capable of supplying materials for the production of 1 million EVs annually.

General Motors has encountered challenges in scaling its Ultium battery production, but assistance from Kelty has reportedly aided the automaker in addressing these obstacles. The partnership with Redwood Materials indicates a strategic move for General Motors as it progresses in its battery production journey. Notably, Redwood Materials has previously collaborated with Toyota, Ford, and Volvo, underscoring its position as a valuable partner in the automotive industry’s shift towards sustainability and responsible resource usage.
