BYD reveals new electric double-decker bus for the UK.

Chinese automaker BYD recently revealed a new electric double-decker bus named the BYD BD11, designed for the UK public transportation market. This unveiling took place at the London Bus Museum, and the vehicle is expected to launch in London later this year.

BYD emphasized its commitment to technological innovation and its desire to contribute to reducing air pollution in London and the wider UK in alignment with carbon neutrality objectives. Frank Thorpe, managing director for BYD UK Commercial Vehicles, expressed this vision.

The BYD BD11 features the company’s proprietary Blade Battery, offering enhanced range and rapid charging capabilities. Moreover, BYD plans to introduce prismatic “Short Blade” batteries as a replacement for its pouch-style batteries, aligning with its innovation strategy.

Additionally, BorgWarner, a US-based tier-1 automotive supplier, is involved in this initiative. BYD’s European branch also aims to compete with Tesla in the electric vehicle space, positioning itself for future growth in the UK and beyond.
