Panasonic Energy reveals new training center in Reno

Panasonic Energy recently revealed its Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center in partnership with Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) in Reno. The center will serve as a manufacturing training hub aimed at advancing STEM education and technology in the region. The collaboration between Panasonic Energy and TMCC began in 2017, with a focus on providing educational opportunities to communities in northern Nevada and fostering talent development in the region.

Allan Swan, President of Panasonic Energy of North America (PENA), expressed excitement about the new center and its potential to offer students hands-on training opportunities, equipping them with the necessary skills for success in today’s technology-driven world. PENA is known for manufacturing and supplying cylindrical lithium-ion cells for Tesla at Gigafactory Nevada. The expansion of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center is expected to create more job opportunities at the factory, aligning well with the training provided by PENA and TMCC.

The program at the center will encompass four main areas: Mechanical Engineering, Cell & Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Program Management. Additionally, PENA’s Graduate Engineering Pathway Program is scheduled to launch on July 8, 2024.
