Mercedes-Benz reveals electric G 580 model

Mercedes-Benz has recently unveiled the all-electric G 580 SUV, featuring the brand’s EQ Technology with a combined energy consumption of 30.3-27.7 kWh/100 km. This vehicle is a continuation of the G-Class tradition, integrating modern drive technology, including a new drive concept with four individually controlled electric motors.

Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Chief Technology Officer, highlighted the innovative drive concept and the vehicle’s familiar angular silhouette, staying true to the iconic off-road model ‘Geländewagen.’ The all-electric Mercedes-Benz G-class vehicle adopts a ladder-frame concept and is equipped with a selectable low-range off-road gear reduction system, independent suspension, and a rigid axle at the rear.

The G 580 houses a 116kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery integrated into the ladder frame to maintain a low center of gravity, providing protection from water and dirt in a torsion-resistant casing. According to the WLTP standard, the vehicle offers a range of up to 473 km.

The G 580 is powered by four individually controlled motors. Customers have the option to include various features such as Keyless-Go, temperature-controlled cup holders, the Burmester 3D surround sound system, and a transparent bonnet.

The vehicle also offers the OFFROAD COCKPIT and additional digital functions to enhance the off-road experience. The EDITION ONE variant is available starting at €192,524.15 (USD$205,739.97).
