The Boring Company’s boring machine appears ready to begin tunneling underground with Prufrock-3. The company has already excavated a pit for the machine’s launch.
According to the tunneling company, Prufrock can start digging a tunnel within 48 hours of arrival on site using a porpoising method, which eliminates the need for excavation of large pits. Experts estimate that it will take the machine 2 to 4 weeks to dig a 300-meter long tunnel.
Prufrock-2, the previous model, can dig up to 1,600 meters (1 mile) per week, and The Boring Company aims to increase Prufrock-2’s performance seven-fold with Prufrock-3.
