Redwood Materials initiates construction of $3.5 billion battery facility in South Carolina

Redwood Materials has officially broken ground in South Carolina at their second Battery Materials Campus, marking a significant milestone in their efforts to create a circular supply chain for battery materials in North America. This development brings them one step closer to closing the loop on their vision.

The construction of the Battery Materials Campus was originally scheduled to commence in Q1 2023. Similar to their Nevada location, the new campus will operate using 100 percent electric processes and will not rely on fossil fuels. Redwood Materials’ focus is on establishing a circular battery economy by utilizing recycled battery materials to re-manufacture products for electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

This news signifies a momentous step forward for the company and their sustainability goals.
