Jeep and Dodge to receive STLA Large platform from Stellantis for upcoming BEVs

The STLA Large is a native BEV platform designed for 400-volt and 800-volt electric architectures. It features three-in-one electric drive modules (EDMs) that include the motor, power inverter, and gear reduction. These modules can be configured for front-wheel-drive (FWD), rear-wheel-drive (RWD), and all-wheel-drive (AWD). Stellantis offers battery pack options with “energy ratings” between 85 and 118 kWh for the STLA Large. The company aims to deliver a range of 800 km/500 miles for sedans using this platform. Fast charging with the STLA Large can add up to 4.5 kWh per minute to the 800-volt battery pack. The STLA Large will first be introduced to Jeep and Dodge BEVs in North America, with plans to expand to other Stellantis brands like Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, and Maserati. Stellantis intends to launch eight vehicles using the STLA Large platform from 2024 to 2026. The STLA Large’s metrics include overall length, width, wheelbase, ground clearance, and maximum tire diameter.

The STLA Large is one of four BEV platforms presented by Stellantis during EV Day 2021. The STLA Medium platform was released in July 2023. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares emphasizes the company’s ambitious goals for the STLA platforms, aiming to create a family of vehicles that outperforms current products and meets the needs of their customers. Tavares highlights the flexibility and agility of the platform as a driving force for success in the shift to electrification in North America.
