There have been speculations that Tesla CEO Elon Musk may attend the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. However, a state official, who chose to remain anonymous, reported that Musk is not expected to attend the event. The official questioned whether Musk would attend the inaugural session or the seminars on day two and day three if he were to come. The official also mentioned that the state of Gujarat is already home to several electric vehicle makers and that the government would be happy to facilitate Tesla if they decide to invest in the state.
Tesla has been considering entering the Indian market for a few years now, but a deal has not been finalized yet. During Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US, Musk and Modi met and discussed Tesla’s potential entry into India. The meeting covered various aspects such as the value chain, economic opportunities, and manufacturing partnerships. Tesla officials have also had extensive meetings with Indian officials.
