The Boring Company’s tunneling machine surfaces at Virgin Hotels

The Boring Company’s tunneling machine has recently reached the Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas, marking progress in the development of its network of underground tunnels in the city. The company acknowledges that the speed of the tunneling machine is currently slower than desired but claims that it is continuously improving.

The ultimate goal is to surpass the speed of a garden snail, and in the medium-term, the company aims to achieve a speed equivalent to about seven miles per day, which is a tenth of the walking speed of a human. In addition to the Virgin Hotels, The Boring Company has also reached other sites, including those leading to future stations in Chinatown and at the Westgate hotel.

Overall, the company’s ongoing progress in expanding its tunnel network is notable, and it will be interesting to see how this infrastructure contributes to the transportation landscape in Las Vegas and beyond.
