Tesla reassigns top automotive executive in the midst of layoffs and departures

Tesla’s Senior Vice President of Automotive is said to be relocating back to China after assisting with the automaker’s global operations last year. Local sources have reported that the executive will be resuming his role as SVP of Greater China. This move coincides with Tesla’s preparations to introduce its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software in the Chinese market, leading to speculation that the executive’s return may be connected to this development.

This represents Tesla’s first venture into a non-North American market for FSD. Zhu, who has been with Tesla since 2018, is credited with playing a pivotal role in facilitating the increase in production at Giga Shanghai.
