Ford’s reduction in battery orders due to over $100,000 loss per EV sold.

Ford has reportedly reduced its electric vehicle (EV) battery orders due to substantial losses on the technology, leading to a scaling back of its electrification plans. The company maintains partnerships with battery suppliers such as SK On, LG Energy Solution, and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL). CEO Jim Farley indicated that the Model e is currently a significant drain on the company. Ford’s retreat from its EV plans in Europe in favor of hybrids represents the latest backstep.

As of now, the extent to which Ford is reducing its EV battery orders remains unclear, and there has been no response to inquiries from *Teslarati* regarding this matter.
