Tesla’s China Registrations Stay Low at 5,160 Units in Third Week of April

Tesla China’s domestic registrations during the third week of Q2 2024 appear to be relatively subdued. Industry observers noted that Tesla China recorded 5,160 new vehicle registrations from April 15 to 21, 2024. While Tesla China does not publicly disclose its weekly sales figures, insights into its overall performance can be gleaned from the insurance registrations filed for its vehicles.

These registrations are monitored by industry watchers and companies such as Li Auto, which regularly shares the weekly registration results of various carmakers. According to Li Auto’s data, Tesla China documented 5,160 registrations in the week ending April 21, 2024, with 4,610 vehicles being the Model Y crossover and 540 as the upgraded Model 3. Domestic registrations for the Model Y were only 1% lower from the previous week, but Model 3 registrations tumbled by 65% from the 1,550 units registered in the prior week, as stated in a report.

The future performance of Tesla China in the domestic market is anticipated with curiosity, particularly following the company’s introduction of incentives at the beginning of Q2. In March 2023, Tesla China sold a total of 62,398 vehicles, marking a 107% increase from the 30,141 units sold in February 2024. However, this figure represented an 18.61% decline from the 76,663 units sold in March 2023.

Additionally, the exports for March 2024 declined by 11.77% from February 2024 and surged by 118.47% from March 2023. For news tips or further information, do not hesitate to reach out to us.
