StoreDot’s XFC battery charges from 10 to 80 percent in 10 minutes ft. Polestar 5.

StoreDot has recently demonstrated the efficiency and speed of its extreme fast charging (XFC) battery cell by showcasing a Polestar 5 being charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 10 minutes. Dr. Doron Myersdorf, CEO of StoreDot, expressed excitement regarding this achievement and highlighted the partnership with Polestar, emphasizing their shared vision for high-performance, sustainable cars. The company has been able to achieve a consistent charge rate of over 310 kW during the test, with peak speeds exceeding 370 kW.

StoreDot attributes this success to the use of silicon-based anode technology, citing advantages in energy density and charging rate boundaries. This type of cell is particularly advantageous as it addresses the limitations of conventional graphite anodes. StoreDot’s development of the XFC battery cell represents a significant advancement in challenging the perception that electric vehicle charging has to be slow.

Both StoreDot and Polestar aim to address charging anxiety with this breakthrough, as demonstrated by comments from Polestar CEO Thomas Ingelath. They hope to further unlock new frontiers for electric mobility, with plans to deliver 100 miles in four minutes by 2026 and 100 miles in three minutes by 2028.
