Hyundai Motor Group has announced plans to develop materials that will enhance the performance of electric vehicles. To accomplish this, the company has formed a strategic partnership with Japanese material manufacturer Toray Industries. The collaboration between Hyundai and Toray will focus on creating lightweight, high-strength materials to improve the performance and safety of Korean vehicles.
Part of the partnership’s objectives include developing carbon fiber-reinforced polymer parts that will enhance the performance of EV batteries and motors. The Head of Hyundai Motor Group’s advanced platform division, Song Chang-hyeon, expressed the company’s intention to leverage the partnership to solidify its position as a global leader in mobility solutions. He emphasized the goal of combining Hyundai’s automotive expertise with Toray Group’s material technological capabilities to gain a competitive advantage in the global market.
In the U.S. EV market, Hyundai has been making significant strides. Hyundai Motor of America reported a 100% increase in its EV sales.
